About
So what qualifies me to develop and lead programs promoting self-respect, confidence and compassion in young girls? I didn’t study this in college or spend years researching it to know these things; I lived it. And decades later, it still hurts. For many years, it shaped who I believed myself to be and in some ways it still does. I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, that the way we feel about ourselves affects the choices we make and the choices we make shape the way we feel about ourselves.
By the grace of God I met and married an amazing man who loves and accepts me in all my wonderfully imperfect glory. And for that, I am eternally grateful. Now that I am the mother of two super fabulous girls I have a new mission. My mission, and I HAVE chosen to accept it, is to heal myself – that little girl trapped inside who still doubts, blames, and some days loathes herself. Because it’s not just about me anymore. Everything I do, every choice I make, every word I speak impacts not only me but also my girls. To help them avoid making some of the mistakes I’ve made I must first heal myself. I need to honor the other pieces of the puzzle that complete the picture of me. The pieces of integrity, honesty, true friendship, intelligence, creativity, kindness, empathy, reliability, and even beauty. I am blessed to be on this journey and try to remember that every day is a new opportunity to learn, grow and live!
